Autumn Open Day (with tree planting)
Join us in the woods for our annual Autumn Open Day and celebration of trees, with activities for all ages. This is a free drop-in event. Keep reading for details of everything happening on the day:
Tree plantings. We are excited to be adding to the arboretum’s tree collection with some new plantings. These will take place on an ad-hoc basis throughout the day with groups of up to 6 people.
Self-guided walks and seed scavenging. Take a walk with our tree map or use our new seed map to explore and discover some of the seasonal wonders of the arboretum.
Family bug-hunting and Forest School activity sessions. These are free 30 minute sessions but because of Covid-19 regulations we are limiting numbers taking part at any one time. These activities are bookable via these links – Bug Hunt booking and Forest School booking. We advise booking to avoid disappointment.
Music performances from Dora Darling. Dora enchants with her beautiful, earthy, nature-inspired folk music. At midday and 3pm she will share with us some of her traditional original songs about seeds, trees, sunlight and more.
Moths of the arboretum. Take a close look at some of the moths of the arboretum, with Butterfly Conservation.
Hot drinks available. We will have the kettle going on the fire and teas and coffees available. Due to Covid-19 we won’t be providing any other refreshments, and as always we ask you to bring your own drinking water as there is not tap on site.
Directions: Please head to GL12 8HH on sat nav, towards the Tortworth Court Hotel. As you turn on to the driveway to the hotel, after a couple of passing places you will come to a green metal gate set back on the right hand side just before a stone building. Turn into this gate and park up.
