Byrdsong Chamber Choir Concert

St Arilda's Church, Oldbury-on-Severn

Byrdsong Chamber Choir, conducted by Martyn Jones.

'Through the Ages'

Come along and be transported through seven centuries of beautiful and exciting music.

Free entry with retiring collection for the church and choir.

Byrdsong began in 2016 as an informal group of friends who enjoyed singing together. There are now sixteen of us and in 2024 we welcomed Martyn Jones as our Musical Director.

Based in the Usk area, we perform sacred and secular music, largely unaccompanied. Our repertoire of anthems, motets and part songs ranges from the thirteenth to the twenty-first century. Our name itself is a nod to the well known composer of the English Renaissance, William Byrd, whose work is often included in our programmes.

We have sung at various fundraisers, concerts and church services in venues and churches around South Wales and Gloucestershire and have also taken part in the Usk Choral Festival. We especially enjoyed singing at Oldbury in July 2024 and are looking forward to singing in the beautiful church of St Arilda once more.
