Creative High Streets Fund Deadline

South Gloucestershire Council is excited to announce the launch of the Creative High Streets Fund, a new initiative designed to bring vibrant cultural and creative activities to nine high street areas across the district.

Funded by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority’s Regional Recovery Fund, the grant programme supports voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations, as well as town and parish councils, to deliver engaging events and activities that celebrate local creativity and culture.

Grants of £1,000 to £5,000 are available to cover the revenue costs of activities that will take place in high street areas including Thornbury.

Applications are now open and must be submitted by Sunday 25 January 2026.

Councillor Sean Rhodes, cabinet member for communities and local place at South Gloucestershire Council, said: “The Cultural Grants funded by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority aim to make creativity and culture accessible to South Gloucestershire residents and help make our high streets vibrant places to spend time.

“Whether you’re voluntary, community or social enterprise, or a town or parish council, we are encouraging organisations to apply for the grant so we can develop and nurture ideas that benefit the local community.”

Helen Godwin, Mayor of the West of England, said: “Bringing a broader mix of cultural activities and events can encourage people to spend more time in our town centres, ultimately helping local businesses to thrive. This regional funding, backed by the council, is a real opportunity for local communities in South Gloucestershire to come up with new ways to add even more character to some of the West’s high streets. We're looking forward to seeing some inspiring ideas to help celebrate these areas.”
