Who's Eating Who in the Garden? Drawing Workshop
Thornbury Community Orchard
10am-1pm
Uncover the wild food chain drama happening amid the trees! A free 'Discover and Draw' event with microscopes and expert naturalist.
Thornbury Community Orchard grows food for human people, but who else is snacking (and getting snacked on) amid the apples and pears?
This and many other questions will be answered on a discovery walk around the community orchard and wildflower meadow site with a brilliant nature communicator, an artist, and the magic of magnification. As we walk, we will be discovering and collecting minibeasts and wildflowers. We will take our finds back to base, where we can eat a packed lunch, look under the microscope, and draw pictures inspired by what we learn, and the magical micro world!
With artist Feral Practice and ecologist Nick Hudson of Wildpace
Digital microscope, magnifying lenses, drawing materials, cold drinks and biscuits provided. Please bring your own picnic lunch.
This event is part of Growing in Thornbury, a project by artist Feral Practice exploring local food in dialogue with Thornbury’s community groups. The artist has been sketching in the allotments, orchard and community woodland. From these drawings they are making a monumental painting of a lush productive garden, which will be installed on the wall of Thornbury's new Lidl store.
This event is free, with a maximun of 30 places. Be quick!
