Severn Vale Art Trail - 20th Anniversary

Now in its 20th year, the Severn Vale Art Trail will take place from Thursday 30th April to Monday 4th May.

Featuring more than 85 artists and makers across 36 venues in the region, there is something for everyone at this year’s trail. As well as many paintings, there will also be sculptures, glasswork, papercut, batik, ceramics, woodturning, jewellery, quilting and even upholstery on show.

Many of the artists and makers are opening up their own studios and workshops, so visitors will be able to see them at their work. Others are sharing venues such as historic churches and village halls and even museums such as Dr Jenner Museum in Berkeley and Thornbury Museum.

And this year, for the first time, the trail will include two new exhibitions - one by Ukrainian artists and one by year 12 pupils from Castle School in Thornbury.

Called ‘Ukraine – Humanity Under Fire’, the exhibition by Ukrainian artists invites viewers to see Ukraine not just through the lens of conflict, but as a continuum of humanity – resilient, rooted and alive. It features portraits of Ukrainian princesses, paintings of modern icons and photographic work of a frontline photojournalist.

The trail covers a large area centred around Thornbury in the south and Berkeley in the north. While many sections of the trail can be done on foot, this year there are also some suggested cycle routes on the Severn Vale Art Trail website.

For details of all the artists and venues (including accessibility, direction and opening hours) and to view the interactive trail map, please visit our website below or pick up one of the printed trail guides from local shops and cafés.

Opening hours vary between the venues, so please check the website for opening hours of the venues to avoid disappointment. Follow the Severn Vale Art Trail on Instagram and Facebook (@severnvalearttrail) for all the latest updates.
