Ukraine – Humanity Under Fire Exhibition

United Reformed Church, Thornbury

Ukraine – Humanity Under Fire is a testament to a people whose story stretches from history into the present moment, carried forward by courage, memory and spirit. The exhibition brings together three artistic voices to explore the enduring human story of a nation shaped by history, identity and resilience.

Through expressive portraits, Ukrainian artist Roman Bochuk transforms contemporary figures into modern icons – embodiments of dignity, spirit and emotional strength. Complementing these symbolic portraits, Arthur Otlonov’s depictions of Kyiv Rus princesses reconnect viewers with Ukraine’s deep historical roots. In powerful contrast, the photographic work of frontline photojournalist Rusian Ganushchak offers an unfiltered witness to the realities of war. His images remind us of the human cost behind global headlines.

This exhibition invites viewers to see Ukraine not just through the lens of conflict, but as a continuum of humanity – resilient, rooted and alive.

Upper Hall, United Reformed Church, Chapel St, Thornbury BS35 2BA. Access to the hall from the side door on Rock Street.

The Exhibition is part of the Severn Vale Art Trail and will be open from 10am until 4pm Thursday 30th April – Monday 4th May (inclusive). Refreshments available.
