Acton Court Tours of House and Grounds

Acton Court, Iron Acton

Acton Court is open to the public Wednesday 27 May to Saturday 27 June 2026 for self-guided audio tours, events and workshops. Closed Mondays & Tuesdays.

Admission to Acton Court gives access to the grounds, the Royal Apartments, the ground floor area and any activities that may be taking place on the day. Audio guides plus visual and written information will be provided. Activities include:

Every tour day:
- Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I - an exhibition of Tudor Court Dress

Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday each week
- Lady Samantha, of Tudor Queens Wardrobe and Tudor Royalty Experience specialises in historically accurate Tudor Gowns. She will be on site to talk about Tudor Court clothing and answer visitors’ questions.

Wednesday 3, Sunday 7 & Sunday 28 June (Herb stall only – Wednesday 17 June)
- Merchant House Artisans Mistress Mary and Master Richard visit Acton Court.
Mistress Mary provides a display of medieval and Tudor plants, focusing on plants used around the home for laundry, cosmetic, natural dye, hygiene and medicinal purposes. The display includes vinegars, floral waters, soaps, simple remedies, balms and syrups using recipes from period leech books and herbals. Many of the native plants featured are still grown at Acton Court.
Master Richard is a Tudor Tailor and will discuss and demonstrate the intricacies of period garment making and the types of garments worn. The display comprises clothing and accessories of the period, as well as historical replicas of the tools of the tailors trade. There will be examples of different types of cloth and yarn and the types of natural dyes used to colour the cloth.

Wednesdays and weekends
- Costumed garden guide Deb Randall will be available on Wednesdays and weekends to show guests around the garden and grounds. Deb is a gardener at Acton Court. She knows the plants and flowers that grow here and specialises in native trees.

Wednesday 27 May to Saturday 27 June
- Acton Court Wars of the Roses
The Tudor Rose is a combination of the emblems of the House of York and House of Lancaster, created after the Wars of the Roses. Artist Chloe Drew will help visitors make their own Rose Badge to wear for their visit – which side will gain the most supporters - Red or White?

Wednesday 27 May to Saturday 27 June
- Organic Blooms will have a stall selling cut-flowers grown at their nine acre farm in Latteridge.

Numbers are limited – book early to avoid disappointment.
