Growing for the Future
The Chantry, Thornbury
7pm-9pm
Free Event
Booking via Eventbrite (preferred; drop-ins welcome)
Join us to celebrate the launch of Growing in Thornbury, a monumental public painting by artist Feral Practice for Lidl, inspired by community food growing in Thornbury.
The evening features an artist talk about the project, plus How to Create a Forest Garden and Ignite a Movement! with special guests Anita Roy and Helen Gillingham from multi-award winning Transition Town Wellington in Somerset.
Helen will bring a selection of her delicious home-made drinks to sample, made from fruit harvested from the forest garden.
We also invite attendees to bring and share snacks made from your own produce. Please clearly label ingredients so that people with allergies can stay safe.
About Growing in Thornbury (Feral Practice)
Over the summer, Feral Practice has been sketching in allotments and community growing spaces across Thornbury and is now painting from these a composite view of a lush productive garden. The painting is made on five panels and the finished artwork will be 3 x 6 metres.

About Fox's Field (Transition Town Wellington)
Fox’s Field was once a privately owned 8-acre field of rough grassland next to the ruins of an old textile mill. It is now a thriving, national award-winning, sustainably managed, biodiverse forest garden. Fox’s Field reconnects people with the land, with each other, and with the food we eat. It has catalysed real change through a ‘green snowball effect’ – inspiring the town to own and manage a 65.5 acre ‘green corridor’ that is protected for 150 years as an open green space for the benefit of the community and wildlife.
