"You Rang M’Lud? - In the Servants’ Hall"
This exhibition runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 1-4pm and Saturdays 10am to 4pm, Fri 11 Sept to Sat 19 Dec 2026, FREE ADMISSION
This exhibition investigates the lives of domestic servants in Thornbury and the surrounding area, from the big houses and Thornbury Castle to more humble households where a maid or perhaps a gardener might be employed.
Find out about the hierarchy of the servants’ hall and the duties of those employed there. Follow the lives of some of those people in service. Discover some shocking facts about Thornbury Mop Fairs and the hiring of agricultural labourers.
The exhibition will continue after the Heritage Open Days festival finishes (right up until Sat 19 December), and can be seen upstairs in the museum.
