Hi Everyone,
Autumn is here, and Thornbury is buzzing with things to do, see and enjoy. From lively festivals and live theatre to cosy creative mornings, it’s the perfect month to make the most of our town.
Fancy a treat? How about afternoon tea, a festive wreath-making workshop, or even putting it towards a Christmas party booking? Enter our new Eastwood Park competition and you could be spending £50 at the beautiful Country House. There's also still time to win a copy of Gilbert White's Disciple, the fascinating story of pioneer naturalist and Alveston resident John Knapp, written by Thornbury's Sir George White.
Keep the countryside theme going - enjoy photography from local naturalist Paul Raven, sample local produce at The Royal George's Cider, Ale and Sausage Festival, and indulge in a week of flowers and music at St Mary's Autumn Festival.
Jane Austen, a castle backdrop, and Illyria Theatre — what’s not to love? Bring a blanket to watch Pride and Prejudice under the stars, then book your seats as the curtain rises on Thornbury Arts Festival's programme of music, comedy and drama.
For free family fun, head to Love Thornbury's Birthday Event and Thornbury Fun Palaces' celebration of creativity, culture and connection!
If you're looking at schools, don't miss the chance to see classrooms in action at Tockington Manor and take your pre-schoolers to Happy Days Nursery's tasty adventure for tiny foodies.
Finally, join writer Marie Day as she kicks off a monthly meet-up for anyone who fancies trying creative writing, and listen to local authors read their work at a new Spoken Word event at The Butcher's Hook.
This is just a taste of what September and October have in store - find more updates in the MyThornbury calendar... and if you have events to share, just let us know!
Best wishes,
Claire
