Every month, nearly 700 people living in and around Thornbury receive our email newsletter, letting them know what's new on MyThornbury: competitions, events and things to see and do.

The latest edition is below - if you'd like your own copy by e-mail, sign up here!

Welcome to our bumper autumn newsletter!

September in Thornbury starts with community, food and fun: meet others in a friendly setting over fish and chips at OSJCT Grace Care Centre or Sit and Share Sunday lunch at Tudor House, bring your family and friends to enjoy food and entertainment on the High Street at Love Thornbury's birthday celebrations, and The Royal George is bringing back CiderFest, bigger and better after last year's success.

To find out how to get more involved in local life, visit the Thornbury Volunteer Fair or have a coffee and chat with Thornbury Lions.

If you're a keen reader, head to The Armstrong to hear short stories read aloud in a relaxed setting at their Local Writers Session and learn How to Be Happy - with author Josh Hartley interviewed by Amanda Prowse.

There's plenty for history lovers this month: learn about "Everyday Histories" at Thornbury Town Hall and St Mary's Church for Heritage Open Day, step into the world of Tudor England at Berkeley Castle's new Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light costume exhibition, and explore the lives of domestic servants in Thornbury and the surrounding area at Thornbury & District Museum's free exhibition: You Rang M'Lud? - In the Servants' Hall.

Already plotting your next holiday? C The World's Titan Travel Event at Thornbury Golf Centre will inspire you, and their special offers will help you save a few pennies. We also have a special code for Group Sound Meditation sessions to ease you into the new season.

October gets off to a creative start with Thornbury Fun Palaces, a free community celebration of culture and connection made by and for local people, as well as Love Thornbury's Oktoberfest, with entertainment, food and local craft stalls.

If you enjoy a little intrigue with your entertainment, head to Eastwood Park for an evening of psychological gameplay at The Imposters - An Immersive Dining Experience, or dive into the intrigue of Henry VIII's court during an atmospheric Tudor Murder Mystery at Thornbury Castle.

For something altogether more peaceful, take a self-guided walk on Autumn Colour Visitor Day at Tortworth Arboretum and enjoy the spectacular reds, oranges and golden shades of autumn.

And then... Halloween! Find an eerie atmosphere and autumnal magic at Berkeley Castle, spooky surprises at The Swan's Coyote Kings Halloween Party, and for the chance to win something rather special for your own Halloween celebrations, don't forget to enter our Halloween Hamper Competition. Evermore Mortgage Brokers are giving one lucky winner the chance to take home a spooktacular Halloween hamper packed with treats for the spooky season.

And... for a theatrical finale to October, Thornbury Musical Theatre Group is bringing Guys and Dolls to the Olympus Theatre at SGS WISE.

Find more autumnal antics to enjoy in the MyThornbury events calendar, and if you have an event to share, get in touch.

Best wishes,

Claire
