1st Thornbury Scouts comprises six sections, two each of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, and provides scouting for boys and girls. There is an associated Explorer unit that meets at Sinclair Hall.
The Group is based at Sinclair Hall, Park Road and currently caters for some 160 boys and girls with an active waiting list. The Group is the largest in Cotswold Edge District and provides action and adventure for all ages between 5 and 14.

2nd Thornbury Scout Group was established in 1972 and meets at Christ the King Church Hall in Thornbury.
We have thre two sections - a Beaver Colony for 6-8 year olds, the Cub Pack for 8 to 10½ year olds and the Scout Troop for 10½ to 14 year olds.

3rd Thornbury was formed in 1977 and still has a thriving Beaver Scout Colony, Cub Scout Pack and Scout Troop today.
We welcome new members, boys and girls aged between 6 and 14 years to join in with our active and varied weekly programmes.
Our leaders are keen to put the "OUT" in SCOUTING and run regular residential experiences with "Sleep Overs" in a hall and indoor accommodation or camping under canvas.

Bristol ACF aims to develop young people (12 - 18 years) physically and mentally, improving self-confidence, teamwork, friendship and leadership. We meet 1900 - 2130 every Thursday and welcome cadets of all abilities and backgrounds, also aiming to develop a sense of community in our cadets.
The ACF provides a wide diversity of fun, exciting and adventurous opportunities and it is a gateway to recognised vocational qualifications from the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to BTEC First Diplomas which can help in working and school life.
Our army-related activities include Shooting, Navigation, Fieldcraft, Skill at Arms, Drill, Military Knowledge.
We also run courses in Adventure Training, such as Canoeing, Kayaking, Climbing and Skiing, as well as Sports events, Shooting competitions, Duke of Edinburgh expedition, First Aid training, and much, much more. If you have a special interest, or would be interested in trying something new, the ACF will help you to do it.

2392 (Thornbury) Squadron of the Air Training Corps is the home of flying in Thornbury. We are open to boys and girls aged between 13 and 17, and offer training and experience in gliding, flying, shooting and a whole host of other indoor and outdoor activities.

Thornbury Area Youth Music is a charity run by parents for parents of children who want to learn a musical instrument in a fun and supportive environment. We run a busy term-time Saturday morning music centre with instrumental groups, classes, choir, theory and orchestras for musicians of all abilities aged four and above.
Because we are a charity, our classes are affordable. You can also hire an instrument for a small fee.

TOAC supports local 13-24 year olds to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh bronze, silver and gold award schemes. We meet on Thursdays (term-time only) 7.30-8.30pm.
Participants are supported to complete their physical activity and volunteering sections of the award and trained to complete their expeditions.
We run appropriate expeditions for participants several times a year and are a charitable organisation, which receives some support from South Gloucestershire council.

Every week across the UK thousands of young people get involved in Sea Cadet activities. Thornbury has a local Sea Cadet Unit (TS Battleaxe) located behind Castle School 6th Form Centre. Our aim is to give young people (girls and boys aged between 10 and 18) the best possible head start in life through nautical adventure and fun. We can offer the following opportunities: Adventure Training, Boat-work, Catering, Canoeing, Communication Information Systems/Radios, DoE, Engineering, First Aid, Kayaking, Leadership, Marine Engineering, Maritime skills, Meteorology, Music, Navigation, Peer Education, Physical Training, Power-boating, Rowing, Sailing, Seamanship, Shooting, Stewarding, Windsurfing. We meet twice a week (Monday and Thursday 18:45 to 21:00) with weekend courses available across the country to gain qualifications in any of the aforementioned activities.
